What is Sclerotherapy?

Sclerotherapy is a treatment where a chemical solution is injected directly into varicose or spider veins. This causes the vein walls to swell, stick together, and seal shut, stopping blood flow. Over a few weeks, the treated vein fades away. Varicose veins are caused by weak or damaged valves in the veins.

Comparison of a person's arm with visible spider veins before and after treatment, showing reduction in spider veins.
